I wanted to invite you or someone from your organization to attend the Walk Through Texas History 4-week wrap-up celebration. Below is a brief description of the event:

Walk Through Texas History is a four-week program designed to help Texans establish the habit of regular physical activity while learning the rich history of Texas. Each adult team may include up to 8 team members, all working together to reach designated goals while following along legendary historical paths created by fellow Texans.

Four teams participated in the event utilizing the new Texas Historical Commissioner route, covering 510 miles of the rich historical points in Texas.  With each historic marker reached, participants were able to read about the location and its importance in Texas history.  Steps could be logged in their own neighborhood, track, workplace, or even indoors, all counting toward the goal of 510 miles per team.

Participants began logging miles on May 2.  A special wrap-up celebration will take place on Monday, January 6, 11:00 a.m. at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Hopkins County office.  Final mileage for each team will be revealed, as well as top team and top individuals in each team.  I’ll have certificates for each participant, along with refreshments.  We hope you will be able to join us!
