The Miller Grove Hornets got their postseason underway Monday, when they went to Sulphur Springs for a Bi-District matchup against the Sulphur Bluff Bears. The two teams had faced each other earlier in the season, with Miller Grove coming out on top in each match.

The Hornets opened the game on fire, scoring the first eight points of the game. Lexton Sly set the tone with a 3-pointer to kick things off, while Tanner Hensley and Landon Burnett each followed with baskets of their own.

Miller Grove continued to play well for the remainder of the frame, continuing to score at a decent pace. Sly ended the quarter with another 3-pointer, giving the Hornets a 17-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter was a struggle for Miller Grove, as they were never able to find their offensive rhythm from the opening frame. The Hornets only tallied four total points in the second frame, with two points coming from Hensley and another two points coming from Sly, giving Miller Grove a slim 21-19 lead at the end of the first half.

Hensley and Burnett continued to lead the offense in the third quarter, being responsible for all six points. While they still struggled offensively, they never allowed Sulphur Bluff to take their lead, as they went into the final frame with a four-point lead.

Going into the final frame with a tight lead, it was Burnett who took control of the game and put the game away for his team. Burnett scored 12 consecutive points for the Hornets, extending their lead to double-digits, as they went on to win the game by a final score of 44-30.

Burnett was the leading scorer for the Hornets, finishing with 19 points, thanks to a 12-point fourth quarter. Hensley was right behind him with a solid 17-point outing of his own.

The win advances Miller Grove to the Area round of the playoffs, where they will face off against Henrietta Midway. Midway ended the regular season ranked No. 19 according to TABC and won their opening round match by a final score of 66-28.
