Mark 6:45
Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd.

If you’re like most people, you have, at one point in your life, been the ‘low man on the totem pole’. Whether it be at a workplace or in some other activity, everyone has been the rookie or the person with the least amount of authority for a season. This meant that you were the one who did all of the grunt work and anything else that those who ranked higher than you didn’t want to do. In today’s text, Jesus actually flipped the script and showed His disciple’s that He was more concerned with their well-being than their service. Jesus could have justifiably gotten in the boat and made the disciples handle the crowd while He rested. Knowing that they were exhausted from a long day of ministry, He displayed servant leadership and excused them so they could start making their way to the next stop on their journey. Take a look at your life. Do you feel like you’re about to reach your breaking point? Has your journey been arduous and non-stop to the point where you don’t know how much more you can take? If so, you should know that Jesus is not judging the success of your effort by how tired you are at the end of each day or by how long that day was. If you’ll ask, the Holy Spirit will give you discernment as to which activities you need to dismiss yourself from. Don’t get caught in the trap of thinking that busy-ness equates to validation. Jesus is more concern with your well-being than your schedule. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
