Luke 2:15
When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”

Have you ever been invited to be involved with something, or blessed with an opportunity that made you feel privileged to get participate in? Maybe it was a club, team, or an even greater organization or movement. If so, you probably remember how seriously you took the responsibilities that came with being brought on board. But, if you’re like most people, over time the feelings of privilege gave way to the stress and weight that came along with being in that position. The question then becomes, what changed? It wasn’t the requirements that came with being involved, it was that the sense of privilege you considered it be involved began to wain. You see, the more of a privilege you consider something to be, the more responsibility you will take towards it. This is a common issue dealt with by Christians. When they first experience the privilege of being a part of the Kingdom they want to be involved with every opportunity they can find to help at their church or any other avenue that presents itself. Sadly though, as time goes on, most get more focussed on what they feel is required of them than they do the privilege it is to be in the Family of God. You can hear it in the way people speak, Christians will be quick to tell you that they ‘have’ to go to church, rather than saying that they ‘get’ to go to church. They have to be a greeter, work with the children, be a part of a small group. The whole time failing to recognize the privilege that it is to be a part of a body that is doing things for the Lord. If you find yourself dealing with a sense of obligation rather than privilege in any area of your life, lay it before the Lord and ask the Holy Spirit to show you things from His perspective. He will enable you to put things back into the proper focus and show where you’re spreading yourself too thin. You can once again enjoy the privilege that it is to be involved with what the Lord is doing to advance the Kingdom. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
