Funeral service for Shirley Lou Anderson age 88, of Sulphur Springs, TX will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Murray Orwosky Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Lantz, Jason Dietze, and Brant Small officiating. Interment will follow at Shooks Chapel Cemetery with Laine Anderson, Dustin Small, Brant Small, Landon Johnson, Troy Nunnery, Sean Dennis, and Chris Anderson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Carriage House Manor. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Murray Orwosky Funeral Home. Mrs. Anderson passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Carriage House Manor in Sulphur Springs.

 

Shirley Lou Anderson was born on February 24, 1936 in the Crush Community to W.L. “Turk” and Clara Lucille (Glover) Morgan. She married Herbert Anderson in Arlington, TX on July 23, 1955 at the home of her sister. They were married for almost 68 years before his passing in 2023. From this marriage, they had four children. Shirley was a devoted member of the Methodist faith and attended Shooks Chapel Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church. She was a true Southern Belle, always making sure food was on the table for all to gather and enjoy. Shirley was a dedicated Sunday School teacher as well as a beautiful gospel singer. She loved knitting/sewing and created many masterpieces that will be cherished for years to come. Shirley found it very relaxing to work in her yard. Her flowerbeds were beautiful and immaculate at all times. Shirley will be missed dearly by all that knew her.

 

Shirley is survived by her children, Emily Small and husband Doug, Morgan Anderson and wife Kim, Angela Johnson and husband Tim; grandchildren, Dustin Small, Brant Small and wife Melissa, Brittany Nunnery and husband Troy, Laine Anderson and wife Julie, Kaylee Anderson, Lexi Anderson, Logan Delphon, Lynsey Dennis and husband Sean, and Landon Johnson; thirteen great-grandchildren, and brother, James P. “Turk” Morgan.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, W.L. and Clara Morgan; husband, Herbert Anderson; daughter, Cindy Castro and sister, B.J. McLarry.
