Obituary for Wendell Stonaker

Funeral service for Wendell Stonaker, age 81, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home, with interment following at Oaklawn Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Bro. Mike Eason, with Jacob Spataro, Aaron Spataro, Tanner Stonaker, Cody Townsend, Mason Littrell, Timmy Henderson, Dustin Speed, and James Parmer serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dalton Littrell, Lawson Forbes, Jimmie Forbes, and Johnny Nurdin. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, December 15, 2023, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Stonaker passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Christus Mother Francis Hospital of Sulphur Springs.

 

Wendell was born to Garland and June (Choate) Stonaker on January 15, 1942, in Dallas, Texas. After completing high school, he went on to serve in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a mechanic for General Motors before he went on to work for Rockwall Int. as a machinist. He also owned and operated his own family business, Stonaker and Sons Wrecking Yard. He retired from Hon Furniture.

 

He is survived by his wife, Mary Stonaker of Sulphur Springs, Texas; daughters, Cameil Littrell and husband, Tracy of Saltillo, Texas, Emily Stonaker; sons, Troy Stonaker and wife, Robin of Sulphur Springs, Rodney Forbes and wife, Ginger of Mr. Vernon, Texas, Jason Forbes and wife, Wendy of Sulphur Springs, Ricky Adams and significant other, Meisha of Sulphur Springs, Brian Adams and wife, Radonna of Sulphur Springs; sisters, Lana Temples and husband, Jeff of Chicota, Texas, Lou Ann Hale and husband, Jack of Teague, Texas; son-in-law, Frank Spataro; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and June Stonaker; daughter, Deana Spataro; stepdaughter, Tonya Wyly; grandsons, Brian Stonaker and Nathan Spataro; sister, Anna Joyce Stonaker; brother, Hoyt Stonaker; and his late wife, Jimmie Stonaker.
