Obituary for Mike Sandel

A memorial service for Mike Sandel, age 76, of Cumby, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 4, 2023, at Tapp Funeral Chapel with Jerald Nelson officiating. Mr. Sandel passed away Friday evening, November 24, 2023, at his residence.

Mike Sandel was born December 20, 1946, in Dallas, TX to James Weldon Sandel and Annie Laurie (Dupree) Sandel. He married Shirley Rincon in Dallas, TX on August 3, 1968. Mike was a sales rep for Schlitz Brewing Company. He also worked at LTV, Bell Concrete, Wing Industries, and Alliance Carpet Cushion, where he met his best friend, Jerald Nelson.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley of Cumby, TX; son, Johnny Sandel and wife, Teresa, of Killeen, TX; daughter, Tiffany Evans and husband, Ryan, of Cumby, TX; sister, Sylvia Campbell of Athens, TX; grandchildren, Riley Evans, Jeremy Merino, Priscilla Merino; great-granddaughter, Ayana Merino, and a host of other great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jimmy Sandel.
