Hopkins County Donation Centers

With the cold months quickly approaching, now is a great time to go through old jackets, scarves, blankets, hats, pants, etc., and see what could be donated to help those in need. National organizations like The Salvation Army and Goodwill have locations and drop boxes all over Hopkins County.

Locally, CANHelp does a lot of work to provide warm clothes for the winter. Additionally, local churches and schools often hold clothing and food drives around this time to help.

With Thanksgiving fast in a few short weeks, it is time to reach out, participate, and donate to local food drives. Not only is it a great way to volunteer in your local community, but the food provided can also take a heavy load off hundreds of families during the holidays.

Some organizations such as the Northeast Texas Food Bank, CANHelp, Ministerial Alliance, Calvary Baptist Church, and Community Chest take year-round donations and are always working to keep the pantry stocked.

With the help of many local banks, churches, and schools there is no shortage of annual food drives to give back and provide Thanksgiving meals for hundreds of families. With that comes lines wrapped around the corner on Thanksgiving Day so, these places need volunteers to help distribute the meals.

This is a great opportunity to inherit the sense of giving the holiday season provides and further build a sense of community that is open-handed — and as they say, many hands make light work. Hopkins County has all the resources needed to keep the holidays happy, healthy, and delicious for all families.
