The Como-Pickton Lady Eagles traveled to Frutivale Tuesday, looking to get back into the win column after taking their first loss in district play. The loss to North Hopkins was their first one in a month, and the Lady Eagles wanted to immediately shake off the loss and get back in the win column.

The opening set started close, but the Lady Eagles began to run away with it in the back end of the set. With the score 24-18, it was a kill from Bella Romero, placing the ball just inside the line and giving her team the opening set win.

Early in the second set it was Sadie Wetzel who helped give her team a momentum boost. Wetzel had a kill and a block on back-to-back possessions, helping her team begin to extend it’s lead. They carried their momentum out throughout the set, winning 25-16.

In the third and final set, the Lady Eagles wasted no time putting the game away, quickly building a double-digit lead. The would go on to win the set by a commanding score of 25-11, putting the game away in straight sets.

Addison Monk led the team offensively, finishing with an impressive 15 kills. Monk also had 10 digs, one ace and one black.

Sadie Wetzel also had a big night, providing six kills and making her presence felt at the net, recording a team-high three blocks. Setting things up was Romero, who had 24 assists, as well as 14 digs, four aces and a pair of kills.

Defensively it was Maggie Brown who led the way, recording 19 digs in the straight-set victory. Other notables included Maud Poortvilet who had three kills and a pair of blocks.

The dominant win puts Como-Pickton right back on track and improves their record to 23-11 on the year and 5-1 in district play. They will be back in action this evening, when they play host to Alba-Golden.
