Como-Pickton Lady Eagles Begin Area Round

Como-Pickton Lady Eagles Begin Area Round
  • PublishedMay 4, 2023

The grind continues tonight, for the No. 2 ranked Como-Pickton Lady Eagles. After yet another dominant opening round, the Lady Eagles are now ready to begin their Area Round of the playoffs against Cross Roads.

Como-Pickton comes into the second round of the playoffs with a ton of momentum. They are not only the No. 2 ranked team in the state and have an overall record of 30-2, but enter the round on a 19-game winning streak.

Perhaps just as impressive, the Lady Eagles haven’t lost a game in two full months. Their last loss came exactly two months ago today, back on March 4 when they fell to Franklin in a 7-0 shutout.

In the Area Round the Lady Eagles will face-off against the Lady Bobcats of Cross Roads. Cross Roads has had a solid season as well, going 16-10, including an impressive 10-3 district record.

The Lady Bobcats cruised in the opening round of the playoffs, where they went up against Overton in a best-of-three series. Cross Roads only needed two games to get it done, winning by final scores of 16-6 and 16-4.

After scoring 16 games in each of their first two playoff games, Cross Roads will hope their bats can keep rolling against a Mattison Buster led Lady Eagles team. The Lady Eagles have been essentially un-hittable, allowing just three runs during their 19-game winning streak.

The series kicks off Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. at Whitehouse High School. The two teams will turn around Friday at the same time for Game Two of the series.

Game Three, if needed, will once again be at Whitehouse. The rubber match, if needed, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday.
