A regular meeting of the Sulphur Springs ISD school board was held Monday, February 13, 2023.

PUBLIC FORUM

No one requested to address the Board.

Jason Evans conducted a public hearing on the 2022 Annual Report of Educational Performance.

ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS/INFORMATION ITEMS

SSISD Police Chief Glynda Chester, presented a required racial profiling report. The district is exempt because SSISDPD officers do not make arrests.

In honor of CTE Month students presented information about the CTE student organizations at SSHS. Presentations were made by:

  • Jaci Robinson – BPA
  • Jillian Jumper– FCCLA
  • Rylie Carroll & Olyvia Palacios – FFA
  • Kate Monk & Briley Vice – HOSA
  • Austin Buxton & Matthew Brown – Skills USA
  • Kamilah Martinez & Uriel Santacruz – TAFE & NTHS

The following culinary arts team were present to prepare and serve the board:

  • Karisma Stegient
  • Kadence Ross
  • Jasmine Gonzales
  • Frances Yanez

Jeremy Lopez and Justin Cowart gave board members an overview of the 2023 Open House schedule and campus updates.

Dan Froneberger presented an update on Maintenance and repairs from recent ice storm.

The following Head Start items were given to the board for informational purposes only:

  • Head Start Director’s Report for January
  • Policy Council Meeting Minutes for January
  • Head Start Financial Reports for January

ACTION ITEMS

Along with routine items, the following were approved:

Order calling a school board trustee election for Saturday, May 6, 2023.

TASB Policy update 120.


Resolution 2-23 re: Wage Payments During Emergency School Closings – Inclement Weather.

Annual agreement with Sulphur Springs Country Club for the 2022-2023 school year.

Pursue bids to purchase one district vehicle.

Purchase three (3) buses.
