The Miller Grove Hornets traveled to Savoy Wednesday, looking to pick up where they left off after a huge homecoming win Tuesday. The Hornets beat Campbell 54-37 in Tuesday’s homecoming game and were looking to pick up wins in back-to-back nights.

Despite being on the road and not having the excitement of the homecoming crowd, Miller Grove had an even easier time wining Wednesday, controlling the game the entire way. The Hornets picked up their fourth district win of the year, blowing Savoy out 65-15 on the road.

Bradley Nordin was the leader of the Hornets offense, almost outscoring Savoy by himself. Nordin had 14 points in the road blowout, also finishing with a pair of assists and a pair of rebounds.

Landon Burnett was right behind him, also in double-digits, putting up 10 points of his own. Burnett also had four rebounds, three steals, two assists, two deflections and one charge.

Ethan George, Lexton Sly and Tanner Hensley all had strong games, scoring a combined 25 points between the three of them. George had nine points, while Sly and Hensley each had eight points. George also had four boards to go along with his nine points.

Jagger Qualls added six points and three rebounds, while Kavan Smith had four points and four boards. Lance Davis and Ryker Haivala each had three points, with Haivala also racking up a team-high six assists.

The win improves Miller Grove’s record to 16-9 on the year and makes them an impressive 4-1 in district play. The Hornets very busy week continues, with a home game against Fannindel Thursday, as well as a road game against Dodd City Friday.

Thursday’s home match against Fannindel is set to begin at 6 p.m. and the road match against Dodd City is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday. Coverage of both games will be provided on Front Porch News.
