Funeral service for Jack Blake, age 90, of Cumby, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Brashear Baptist Church with Dustin Cowden officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Grove Hill Cemetery, Dallas, Texas with Richard Wise, Stephan Monse, JR Rowan, TJ Clark, Sidney Monse, and Warner Ragan serving as pallbearers. Joshua Blake will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Mr. Blake passed away at his home on Friday, June 7, 2024.

 

Jack Elton Blake was born on November 15, 1933 in Dallas, Texas to Herman Otto and Ruth Naomi (Coy) Blake. Jack was an Air Force veteran and worked as a Aviation Mechanical Inspector. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Brashear Baptist Church.

 

Jack is survived by his sons, Dennis D. Blake, Andy J. Blake; daughter, Cynthia Lynn Merkey; brother, Vincent D. Blake; grandchildren, Terry Miller, Kaysue Hall, Dawn Tucker, Joshua Mark Blake, Corriene Elizabeth Wise, Sandra Lynn Monse, Nicole Naomi Lauret, Lilli-Jeanne Francis Gurney; thirteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Naomi Blake; parents, Herman and Ruth Blake; sister, Betty Lee Bynum; and brother, James Autra Blake.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
