Edna Blount, age 69, of Cooper Tx passed away January 9, 2023 at her daughters’ home in Sulphur Springs, Tx after a brief battle with lung cancer.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Cooper Tx, with Danny Ballard officiating. There will be no formal visitation.

Edna was born on May 9, 1953 in Cooper Tx to Woodrow Wilson Wilks and Ethel (Jordan) Wilks. She married the love of her life, Jackie Leonard Blount, on June 16, 1972 in Cooper Tx. She loved spending time with her family and loved working in her yard. Anyone who knew her knows she had the most beautiful flower beds thanks to her green thumb. She also loved reading and was a member of the Full Gospel House of Prayer in Sulphur Springs, Tx.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jackie Blount, Granddaughter Katie Mullens and Grandson Justin Clark; her parents, brothers William and Coy Wilks, and sister Pauletta Wilks.

She is survived by her daughters Shannon Burkett and husband Jeremy; Stacey Wicks and husband Michael; Grandchildren Christina Clark, Ashley Cobb, Michael Clark and wife Summer; eight great grandchildren; brothers Darell Wilks and wife Trina, Frankie Wilks; sisters Mary Cheshier and husband Mike, and Laura McQueen; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Arrangements under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
