Linda Marie Owens passed from this Earth and through Heaven’s gates on June 4, 2022, at Heritage House Nursing Home in Paris, Texas. Linda was born in Hunt County on August 7, 1944. She was the daughter of Montie and Bertha Woodard Wood. She married Travis Owens of Sulphur Springs on July 20, 1962, in Hopkins County.

Linda attended public school in Commerce Texas. Upon graduation, she attended East Texas State University, obtaining her master’s degree in Education. Linda loved teaching, and Special Education was her passion. She taught at numerous area schools including Lone Oak and Como-Pickton, Lackland Air Force Base, and lastly at Sulphur Springs, where she retired as a Diagnostician.

Linda loved her family, especially her granddaughters and great grandson. She enjoyed traveling, good books, music, old Western classic movies, and her family pets. Linda will be remembered by those that knew her as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She selflessly cared for others and put them first before herself.

She leaves behind a daughter, Kim Lemons and husband Thomas; a son, Andy Owens; granddaughters, Chelsey Romans and Maddison Dorner; great grandson, Hurley Hanna; and son-in-law, Jeff Dorner. She also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Travis, her brothers Edward Wood and Montie Ray Wood, and son-in-law Tony Romans.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 9, 2022, at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tommy Johnston officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Andy Owens, Jay Stonaker, Jeff Dorner, Harold Petrea, Darron Harred and Thomas Lemons serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to your local animal shelter or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
