Hornets improve to 2-0 in district

The Miller Grove Hornets hosted Fruitvale Tuesday, looking to pick up their second district win of the year. The Hornets won their district opener back on Dec. 18 against PTAA by a final score of 73-24.

Miller Grove kept their winning ways going, controlling the game from the very beginning. The Hornets played well all game, cruising to an easy 66-24 victory.

Tanner Hensley was the leading scorer for the Hornets, finishing with 13 points and four rebounds. Lexton Sly and Landon Burnett were right behind him, scoring 12 points and 10 points respectively. Sly also had two assists and two steals, while Burnett had four rebounds and one assist.

Jacob George had a strong all-around game, scoring eight points, while dishing out two assist and grabbing two rebounds. George also had one steal and one deflection.

Ryker Haivala had five points, while also leading the team in both assists (4) and steals (4). Haivala also had three rebounds and a pair of deflections. 

Ethan George, Bradley Nordin and Jaden Furrh each had four points, while Lance Davis, Eastin Christian and Jagger Qualls each had two points. Qualls also had a team-high six boards.

The win makes the Hornets 14-8 on the year and makes them 2-0 in district play. Of their 14 wins, nine of them have been by double-digits.

The Hornets will look to keep their wining ways going by picking up their third consecutive win Friday in a road contest against Ector. Ector is 12-10 this year and also 2-0 in district play.

The game is in Ector and set to begin at 7:30 p.m. Coverage of the game will be provided on Front Porch News.
