Como-Pickton Lady Eagles Finish As Co-District Champions
Winning has become tradition for the Como-Pickton Lady Eagles softball program over the last few years, creating high expectations for both themselves and outsiders. This year, the Lady Eagles have once again been able to meet those expectations, as they finish their regular season as Co-District Champions.
The Lady Eagles opened the season with yet another strong preseason, going 19-2 along the way. Their only two losses came against strong competition, with one of them being a 7-2 loss against Community, the No. 3 ranked team in 4A.
The Lady Eagles kept their strong play going into district, going 9-1 and outscoring their opponents 99-20 along the way. Unfortunately, their only loss came at the hands of Alba-Golden, a team who has also only lost to Como-Pickton.
Now, the No. 3 ranked Lady Eagles will have to face the Lady Panthers one final time, in a rubber match to see who will be the No. 1 seed going into the postseason. The game is scheduled for Monday, April 22 at 6 p.m. in Lone Oak.
While both teams have had excellent seasons and will be looking to make deep postseason runs, only one of them will be able to do so as the No. 1 seed from the district. For updates on the deciding match and for the Lady Eagles postseason run, stay tuned to Front Porch News.
