57th Annual Hopkins County Stew Contest Information

57th Annual Hopkins County Stew Contest Information
  • PublishedSeptember 15, 2026

Don’t miss out on being a part of the second-largest cooking contest in Texas!

The 57th Annual Hopkins County Stew Contest is set for Saturday, Oct. 24, and it’s not too soon to start planning on the largest single-day event in Hopkins County. Food service starts at 10:45 a.m. that morning.

Tickets are on sale now, and the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce has kept the price the same as the last several years — $8 for adults while kids 12 and under eat free. So, you can bring the entire family out to Buford Park at an affordable price. Plus, it’s all you can eat.

Generous sponsorships from Alliance Bank as the title sponsor and Signature Solar as the Kids Eat Free sponsor allow the Chamber of Commerce to keep the ticket prices affordable.

Tickets are available at local lending institutions (banks and credit unions), the Chamber office or online at HopkinsChamber.org.

We will also have our Fun Zone for kids on Saturday, thanks to One Church.

Stew Cooks

Last year’s stew cooks have until noon on Friday, Sept. 25, to claim their site from the previous year. After that date, all unclaimed stew sites will be available for new cooks to select.

The registration fee for a cook site remains at $100. You can sign up online or at the Chamber office, 110 Main St.

Friday Night

You don’t have to wait until Saturday to have fun at the Stew Contest. Friday night, we will have a concert with Dubb and the Luv Machines beginning at 7:30 p.m., thanks to our Friday night sponsor, City National Bank.

In addition, we will have a Fun Zone Friday afternoon and early evening for kids. Sponsoring that is The Way Bible Church and Rowdy Goose.

While the public can’t take part in our appetizer contest (it’s only for our stew cooks), that is also taking place Friday night, and this year we are adding a dessert/Dutch oven cooking contest.

Merchandise

Stew merchandise is here! T-shirts reflecting this year’s Red, White and Stew theme are on sale at the Chamber office, along with new hats, tumblers, stickers and more.

While you are in the Chamber office, you can guess the number of candies in the glassware and win a special prize.

Sponsorships

There are a handful of sponsorships that remain available if your business is interested in being involved in the stew contest, which is behind only the chili contest at the Houston Rodeo as the largest cooking event in the state.

Goody Bag Items

If your business would like for our stew cooks to have a reminder of your business, you can put an item in our cooks’ goody bags. We anticipate having 350-360 cooks (two per cook site).

If you have any questions or need more information, please contact the Chamber at 903-885-6515 or info@HopkinsChamber.org.
