Obituary for Billy Wren
Billy Ray Wren, 93, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026, in Bonham, Texas. Mr. Wren was born May 2, 1933, in Brashear, Texas. Mr. Wren entered the US Air Force in 1953, met Jean Delores Crawford in Washington D.C. and married her on April 20, 1957, then was honorably discharged in May of 1957.
Billy Ray was a was a devout Christian and strong family man that loved his wife and his family dearly. He attended North Texas Teachers College (now University of North Texas) where he pursued a degree in education. He began his teaching career at Pinkerton Elementary in Coppell, TX and then went on to teach and coach at MacArthur High School in Irving, Texas. After retiring from teaching, Mr. Wren received his realtor license and opened Bill Wren Realty in Irving where he was a respected businessman in the Irving community for many years. Mr. Wren was a 32nd Degree Mason, Shriner, Scottish Rite, a member of the Irving Elks Lodge and American Legion. He also enjoyed horse racing, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and reading the newspaper and box scores daily.
Billy was preceded in death by his father, Orval Wren; mother, Ruby Millsap; wife, Jean Wren; infant baby girl; sister, Mary Scott; and brother, Jerald Wren. He is survived by his four children; Pam Truett and husband, Terry of Bromide, OK; Tim Wren and wife, Brenda of McKinney, TX; Julie Cobb and husband, Kirk of McKinney, TX; and Amy McLeod and husband, Casey of Aubrey, TX; brother, Dwayne Wren and wife Kathy of Miller Grove, TX; six grandchildren, Terry Truett Jr., Michael Truett; Shelly Ailshie, Zach Cobb, Nick Cobb, and Macy McLeod; and numerous great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 10, 2026, in the Chapel of West Oaks Funeral Home, with Pastor Hoyt Scoggins officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Following Military Honors at the funeral home, interment will take place in Greenview Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be; TJ Truett, Michael Truett, Nick Cobb, Noah Truett, Jeff Wren, and Scott Yager. Honorary pallbearer will be Zach Cobb.
