Third Annual Lake Country CASA Derby
The third annual Lake Country CASA Derby was a tremendous success, raising over $45,000 to support local children in foster care.
Guests arrived in their Derby best, placing wagers and cheering on their picks, all in hopes of backing the winning horse. Few could have predicted the thrilling upset as longshot Golden Tempo surged from last place to claim an unforgettable victory. The crowd erupted with excitement; it was truly an epic finish! Peggy Walker took home the $1,000 grand prize for picking the winning horse.
Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed incredible food, tried their luck at the popular whiskey and wine pulls, and experienced the unique touch of freshly rolled cigars.
The style was just as impressive as the racing, with Charlie Ursy winning Best Dressed Man in a standout purple seersucker suit. Meredith Walker turned heads in a beautiful floral dress, earning Best Dressed Woman, while Lindsey White claimed Best Hat with a show-stopping design featuring a horse perched on top. An honorable mention goes to Lyndsi and Randy White for their unforgettable matching yellow Derby attire.
Following the race, guests relaxed and enjoyed a live performance by award-winning country music star Jordan Davis, closing out an incredible night for an even greater cause.
Lake Country CASA wants to extend a heartfelt thanks to their incredible sponsors and to everyone who attended and supported the event. Your generosity is changing the story for children in foster care across Hopkins, Rains, and Franklin counties. Mark your calendars for next year’s Derby, Saturday, May 1st 2027.
