Wildcats Ready For New District As UIL Announces District Realignment

Wildcats Ready For New District As UIL Announces District Realignment
  • PublishedFebruary 2, 2026

One of the most exciting days of the Texas High School sports world is here, a day that only comes around every two years. Monday morning the UIL announced the district realignments for the 2026-2028 school years. We will now take a second to look at what the new football district will be for Sulphur Springs, along with their district for the other winter and fall sports as well.

Football District

For Sulphur Springs, much like a number of schools throughout the state, this realignment brings a good amount of change. The Wildcats welcome in almost an entirely new district, with the exception of Paris, who will now be in the same district as them for the third consecutive realignment.

Sulphur Springs and Paris will be welcoming in many new faces, including Caddo Mills, Ferris, Kaufman, Mabank and Waxahachie Life. While Caddo Mills, Ferris and Waxachie Life will be completely new foes, both Wildcat schools have been very familiar with Kaufman and Mabank in recent years.

As recently as 2022-2024, Sulphur Springs and Paris were in the same district with Kaufman and Mabank, with Sulphur Springs seeing a good bit of success against them. In football, Sulphur Springs went a combined 3-1 against the pair of schools, beating them by an average score of 25-18.

As for the new school’s entering the district, they are each in rebuilding phases of their football programs, with Caddo Mills, Ferris and Waxahcie Life having a combined record of just 11-21 last season and an even worse combined record of 21-43 over the last two seasons.

The combined record of all of Sulphur Springs’ new district opponents last season was 23-63 and 46-83 over the last two years. The Wildcats will look to continue their winning ways, and be fighting for district titles in each of the next two years.

Non-Football District

In all of the other sports, Sulphur Springs district will look the exact same as it does now, being joined by Bonham, Paris, Paris North Lamar, Pittsburg and Texarkana Pleasant Grove. This is exactly how the district has looked for Sulphur Springs in each of the last two years, with all of the Wildcats and Lady Cats teams having success.
