Sulphur Springs Lady Cats and Wildcats Ready To Begin District Play
The Texas High School soccer season is in full swing, with both the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats and Wildcats set to open district play this Friday. Before we see how they do in their district openers, let’s take a quick look at how each of them have done in the non-district part of their season’s.

The Sulphur Springs Wildcats will enter their district opener with a record of 3-5-2 and will be looking to pick up some momentum with a win against North Lamar, who is 4-5 on the year. The Wildcats have struggled a bit on offense early in the season, scoring just 15 goals in their first 10 games, but they have been solid defensively.

So far the Wildcats have picked up wins against Brownsboro, Lago Vista and Anna, with the Wildcats scoring four goals in both the Brownsboro and Anna wins. They will look to find the same success they had in those games Friday night when they travel to North Lamar. For the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats, they come into district with a record of 8-4-2, and as winners in each of their last two games. The Lady Cats have been just as dominant as their record sounds, outscoring their opponents 36-19 on the year so far.
The senior duo of Addy Fenton and Jolea Moore have led the team offensively so far, racking up impressive numbers in the early going. Fenton leads the team in both goals and assists, with 13 of each, while Moore is right behind her with 11 goals. Junior Ashley Monsivais has also played a huge role scoring eight goals and dishing out five assists.

The Lady Cats have the privilege of opening district play at home Friday, set for a 5:30 start time. They will play host to North Lamar, who is just 1-8 on the season so far.
Both the Wildcats and Lady Cats have seen a ton of success this decade, with each team being not only regulars in the postseason, but teams who regularly make deep playoff runs. Since 2020, both teams have made it to the second round of the playoffs three times, with the Lady Cats even making a trip to the Regional Final.
This year will be no different for the pair of Sulphur Springs soccer clubs, as they will each look to make it back to the postseason and each look to make deep playoff runs once they get there. The journey to that goal starts for each of them Friday.
