Funeral service for Curtis Tippit, age 67 of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with J.D. Tippit officiating. Interment will follow at Hart Cemetery with J.D. Tippit, Andrew Termini, Sam Miller, John Holland, Jon Olson, Joe Forshee, and Garrett Tippit serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Mr. Tippit passed away on January 4, 2026 at UT Southwestern – Dallas.

 

Curtis was born on December 10, 1958 in Dallas, Texas to J.D. and Marie Francis (Gasway) Tippit. He married Betty Hutchison on March 2, 1984 in Garland, Texas. Curtis earned his Bachelor of Science degree in manufacturing management from East Texas State University. Curtis was an entrepreneur who owned and operated his own painting business since 1990. He was a devoted Christian whose faith was central to his life.

 

He is survived by his children, Chloe Cross, J.D. Tippit and his wife Jessie, Barbie Termini and husband, Andrew, Mandie Miller and husband, Sam, Andrea Holland and husband, John, Ariel Olson and husband, Jon, Walter Tippit, Jodie Belle Forshee, and husband, Joe Forshee; nineteen grandchildren; and his sister, Brenda Tippit.

 

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; and brother, Allan Tippit.

 

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Dallas Police Association in memory of Curtis Tippit at 1412 Griffin St East Dallas, Texas 75215.
