Funeral service for James Paulie “Turk” Morgan, age 91 of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 12, 2025 with Dr. Jeff Gravens officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Cole Farmer, Garrett Vickey, Dylan Reed, Rodney Miller, Morgan Anderson, and Red Cross. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Morgan passed away on December 6, 2025 at Carriage House Manor.

 

James was born on December 20, 1933 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Wilbur and Lucille Morgan. He married Patty Sidebottom on April 12, 1958 and had two daughters, Ann and Debra Morgan. James was a retired veteran of the United States Army. He earned his bachelor’s degree from SMU. He worked for his father at Dairy Queen on Main Street before becoming owner. James and Patty retired from Dairy Queen and became grandparents. He was an avid bowler, fisherman, hunter, and Texas Rangers fan. Above all, James was the best grandfather and great grandfather anyone could pray for. James was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs.

 

He is survived by his daughter, Debra; granddaughter, Amber Walker; great grandchildren, Dylan Reed (Jordan), Ashlyn Collins (Adan); great-great grandchildren, Cason Reed, Ophelia Reed, Oliver Reed and Brynleigh Delacruz.

 

James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patty; daughter, Ann; sisters, Shirley Anderson and Billie Jo McLarry.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
