Local 16 year old Andrew Vo takes 2nd at Jetski World Finals
Just last week, I competed in my 4th IJSBA World Finals In Lake Havasu, Arizona.
Before I knew it, I have almost completed my 2025 international race
season. I’ve been very fortunate to travel all throughout Asia and
Europe this year. As I turned 16 this year, this was my first season
in the Amateur classes.
This World Finals, I decided to enter the Pro-Am 4 Stroke Lites class.
The riders would be even faster, with good equipment. I was offered a
GP Modified 1100 boat from our friend Terry Hiebert. This was a
surprise to me, as I had only raced this class once last year.
My family and I arrived in Lake Havasu a week before the race to do
some testing. Team riders and family friends, the Morris’ relentlessly
fine tuned my ski to give it the much needed competitive power.
This was one of my toughest races I have competed in. Throughout all
of my classes, there was never an easy moto. I fought hard against
some of the best riders in the world.
To finish up the week, I ended up earning 7th in the Amateur 4 Stroke
Lites class In a huge lineup of 18 riders. In the Pro-Am 4 stroke
class, I managed to fight my way to 6th place. And finally, in Amatuer
Modified 1100, I fought off the pack of riders, shockingly snatching a
coveted 2nd spot on the podium.
Overall, I gained a lot of experience from the race week. I was so
happy to see all of my race friends from across the world.
Huge thank you to the Morris Family, and Derek Correl for all of their
help throughout the week, and a special thank you to all of my
sponsors this year. I’m so happy to be able to represent!
I’m excited to finish off my 2025 race season in Pattaya, Thailand for
the King’s Cup, where I’ll be facing the best of the best.
