Funeral service for Maxine King, age 93, of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs with Shane Carrington and Kyle Goolsby officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Cooper, Texas with Richard Goolsby, Fred Kemp, Grey Kemp, Brad Oldbury, Steven Stansbery, and Marlin Jones serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be David Ford, Darrell Ford, Harvey Fails, Burdette Oldbury, Noel Bailey, and Bill Wilkinson. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Ms. King passed away at Vistas Hospice in Fort Worth, Texas on Monday, September 15, 2025.

 

Billie Maxine King was born on December 7, 1931 in Macune, Texas to Austin Mack and Mary Ellen (Roberts) Harvey. She married Malcolm S. King in Beaumont, Texas on December 11, 1948. Maxine worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Bob Parker for many years as well as at the Hospital in Cooper. Maxine was a member of the Southside Church of Christ.

 

Maxine is survived by her daughters, Shirley King Goolsby (Richard) and Melissa King Stansbery (Steven); grandchildren, Kyle Goolsby (Julie) and Katy Lee Goolsby Kemp (Fred); and great-grandchildren, Faith Hannah Goolsby, Eleanor Ruth Goolsby, Grey David Kemp, and Birdie Mae Kemp.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Austin Mack and Mary Ellen Harvey; husband, Malcolm King; sisters, Mabel Harvey Pulliam, Marguerite Harvey Warren, and Marjorie Harvey Ford; and brothers, Raymond Harvey and Elwood Harvey.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the Southside Church of Christ at 1208 S. Davis Street, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
