Obituary for Darla Louise Wardall Coker
Funeral service for Darla Louise Wardall Coker, age 78, of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Ms. Coker passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, September 15, 2025.
Darla Louise Wardall Coker was born on June 29, 1947 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Skip W. and Mildred M. (Creekmore) Wardall. She received an associate degree in business administration and worked in Banking until her retirement. Darla enjoyed Tap, Ballet, and Ballroom dancing as a young child as well as her love for horses. She competed in rodeos and was an awarded competitor in her teens. As a young adult her passion became her family while pursuing her career in Banking. Darla enjoyed life and always had a positive attitude. At the age of 72 she sold her home and moved in with her son, Scott, to be a full-time nanny to her granddaughter, Madelaina. She always said Scott was her “rock” from the time he was eighteen. Darla always found a way to enjoy life and the many things life offered.
Darla is survived by her son, Scott Coker of Sulphur Springs; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Rick Creekmore (Gloria) of Florida, Skip W. Wardall of Aurora, Colorado, Scott Wardall (Robin) of Pensacola, Florida, and Jon Wardall (Deb) of Post Falls, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, Skip W. Wardall and Margaret (Creekmore) Kelly.
