Obituary for Marthella Yoakum

Funeral services for Marthella Yoakum, age 95, will be conducted at 10AM August 29, 2025, at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jeff Sant officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with grandsons, Jeff Yoakum, Brian Yoakum, Jonathan Hatley, Jared Peacock, Joshua Mayes, Mark Yoakum serving as pallbearers Eric Hatley, Andy Yoakum, Ben Yoakum, Shawn Gardiner, Steven Terrell, Byron Peacock and David Terrell as alternates. There will be no formal visitation. Marthella passed away on August 13, 2025, in Issaquah, Washington. She was born on November 24, 1929, in Lawn, TX, the daughter of William Hamilton Brown and Bessie Lee Rogers Brown. She married Lester Leon Yoakum Sr. on July 29, 1947, in Yuma, Arizona. He preceded her in death. Marthella was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

She is survived by her children, Leonna Gwendee Hatley and husband Garland of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Lester Leon Yoakum, Jr. and wife Cindy of Las Vegas, Nevada, Junie Dean Peacock and husband Craig of North Bend, Washington, Virginia Lee Terrell and husband Robert of Ellensburg, Washington and Rita Jane Gardiner of Shoshone, Idaho. Marthella also left us with a very loving family of 27 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren with 2 more on the way.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Leroy Brown and Melvin Brown.
