Barry (Bub) Smith, born December 7, 1951, in Dumas, TX, to Edward and Charlene (Bolster) Smith, passed away on July 23, 2025, in Yantis, TX.

Barry grew up helping with the family business, Golden Spread Implement, Inc., and after graduating from Texhoma High School in 1970, joined his father, Ed, in the family business full-time. He worked as a diesel mechanic and was the Vice President of Golden Spread Implement. He later decided to try his hand at ranching and ran a 5,000-acre cow-calf operation in Stratford, TX. Upon his retirement, he moved to Sulphur Springs, TX, to spend time with his daughter and grandchildren.

An avid outdoorsman, Barry loved camping, hunting, fishing, snow skiing, and water skiing. He competed in many shooting competitions and had the trophies and plaques to prove his skills. You could often find Barry at gun shows and car shows in Amarillo.

Barry is survived by his son Neal Smith, a daughter, Monique Kager, and husband Aaron; five grandchildren, Kallye Wallace and husband Luke, Austin Kager, Dacey Smith, Makenna White and husband Noah, and Kason Kager; two great-granddaughters, Madeline Kager and Landry Wallace; a sister, Tana Pemberton, and husband Steve.
