Andrew Vo Round 3 Thailand Pro Tour
I am grateful to share that last weekend, I competed in round 3 of the Thailand pro tour, the most competitive race series in the world for me. The race was held in Kamphaeng Phet, a small town just 6 hours north from Bangkok. Kamphaeng Phet has scenic mountains, and lush forests. Almost everywhere you looked had postcard material.
Being the only young American to race in the Thai pro tour, I knew I was the underdog. The Thai racers were tough, and their skis were fast. Even more so on their home turf.
Leading up to the race, I was faced with anxiety, fear, and the unknown. The day of the race, I had my first moto at 8:15 in the morning, and my second moto at 11, giving me time to recoup. The water conditions were just like home; smooth. The competition was different than round 2. I had to be prepared for anything.
In my first moto, I rode cautiously, not knowing what to expect. I managed to hold 4th after almost losing my ski. The second and last moto, I came together with another rider, staying on my ski while he fell. A split second decision secured my 4th place on the podium, and earned the respect of my fellow competitors.
For the weekend, I fought for a 4th place on the podium against some of the best riders worldwide. I am proud of my accomplishments thus far, but I know i have to increase my training in order to keep improving at the rate I am.
As a jetski racer at an international level, it would be impossible to do it alone. I am ever so grateful to have such an amazing support team here in Thailand. Thank you to the Keenapan family, and KJ racing factory for all of their support this weekend.
I am so proud to represent my sponsors here in Thailand. In 2 weeks, I will be heading to Belgium for round 2 of the WGP #1 tour! Hoping to meet more awesome people, and looking forward to a safe and successful race.
