Free Men’s Health Clinic Eligibility Expanded
Sulphur Springs, Texas – The Hopkins County Health Care Foundation’s Board of Directors voted to increase the age range of eligibility and expand free clinic offerings to first responders who work in Hopkins County but live elsewhere.
Hopkins County men originally had to be between age 40 and 60 in line with the standard medical recommendations to qualify for the free heart calcium scans offered by the clinic, but the limit has been increased by the board to 65. Additionally, male first responders who serve in Hopkins County but live outside of city limits are now included.
Registrants still need to have one or more of the following risk factors to qualify: obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, or a family history of heart disease. Questions will be asked over the phone by the scheduler to determine if the scan would benefit the patient.
This is not a needs-based program and both insured and uninsured men are welcome to participate. Call (903) 606-4019 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to schedule and simply mention the Foundation’s free clinic.
Scans will be completed locally at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Sulphur Springs. One clinic day was held July 12 and the next will be July 19. It is not too late to sign up. Appointments will be made until the spots are filled so do not hesitate to call, even if it is day before. If July 19 will not work with your schedule, inquire about additional dates.
