Memorial Service for Leathia Ann Smith, age 81, of Brashear, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, Texas with Buddy Wiggins officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Mrs. Smith passed away at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs on Thursday, May 8, 2025.

 

Leathia Ann Smith was born on May 5, 1944 in Washington, Indiana to Earl and Alma Irene (Kimbell) Whitehead. She married Billy Royce Smith in Rockwall, Texas on July 1, 1985. Leathia was a hard worker who worked in the restaurant and retail industry for many years. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and working in her yard, which she kept looking immaculate. Her most cherished times were spent with Billy and her family. Leathia was always wearing a smile on her face and enjoyed the simple things. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

 

Leathia is survived by her husband, Billy Smith of Brashear, Texas; daughter, Tammy Worley, of Brashear, Texas; son, Charles Kelly of California; grandchildren, Crystal Wyly, Lacey Newby, Brandon Kelly, Chas Kelly, and Elija Kelly; fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Ida Faught of Oklahoma and Jeanie Whithead of Arkansas; and numerous nieces and newphews.

 

She was preceded in death by parents, Earl and Irene Whitehead; brother, Bennie Whitehead; and sister, Bobbie Mofield.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
