Obituary for Bill Elam

Funeral Service for Bill Elam, age 77, of Nelta, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on

Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs,

Texas. Burial will be held at DFW National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday,

May 15, 2025. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on

May 13, 2025 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Elam

passed away at his home on Thursday, May 8, 2025.

Billy Ray Elam was born on February 10, 1948 in Dallas, Texas to Billie Thomas

and Dorothy Lorraine (Eschmann) Elam. He married Pamela Story at the Lee

Street Methodist Church in Greenville, Texas on December 13, 1969. Bill worked

at H.D. Lee as a sewing machine mechanic for fourteen years. He also worked at

Sulphur Springs ISD in the maintenance department from 1986-1999 and was a

proud Dairyman for many years. He was a member of the Antique Car Club and

his hobbies included remote control airplanes and ham radios.

Bill is survived by his wife, Pam Elam of Nelta; daughters, Paula Pace (Taylor) of

Sulphur Springs and Cindy Kay Elam of Nelta; son, Billy Ray Elam, Jr. (Sheena) of

Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Layton Pace, Kaden Pace (Sydnee Wolfe), Dylan

Cooper (Nina), Mason Elam, Daniel Elam, and Story Harris; great-grandchildren,

Adalynn Pace, Kennedy Pace, and Emory Pace; sister, Carolyn Grant of Tulsa,

Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Hook.

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
