Multiple Sulphur Springs Seniors Sign Their Letters of Intent
  • PublishedApril 23, 2025

Wednesday a number of Sulphur Springs seniors made it official and began the next chapter of their career’s, as they announced where they will be taking their talents to at the next level and signing their letters of intent. Both for the Wildcats and Lady Cats athletic programs, athlete’s getting the opportunity to continue their career’s at the next level has become almost tradition, and Wednesday added to that tradition, with four more student-athlete’s adding their names to the long list of collegiate athlete’s from Sulphur Springs.

Kaden Mitchell, Oklahoma Christian

Sulphur Springs has a long list full of talented multi-sport athlete’s, but you will have a hard time finding many who are more decorated than Kaden Mitchell. Despite being an All-State quarterback who led the Wildcats to their deepest playoff run in over 15 years, football isn’t even the sport Mitchell will be playing at the next level.

Wednesday Mitchell announced his decision to go to Oklahoma Christian University, where he will be continuing his baseball career. Mitchell is currently one of the leaders of the Wildcats baseball team, who are already having their highest-winning season in over a decade and still have a chance at a District championship and a playoff run to add to the resume.

Mitchell already has two All-District selections under his belt in baseball, and in the upcoming weeks he is sure to add a third, leading the Wildcats in most offensive categories so far this year. While he will be excited to take his talents to Oklahoma Christian in the fall, his eyes will be set on helping lead the Wildcats on a strong playoff run first.

Mattie Dixon, Paris Junior College

Mattie Dixon was the lone Lady Cat on this go-round of signing day, as she signed her letter of intent to join the cheerleading program at Paris Junior College. Dixon spent four years cheering at Sulphur Springs and looks forward to continuing her career at the next level.

Dixon is also a member of the District Champion Lady Cats softball team, who will be kicking off what they hope to be yet another deep postseason run this weekend. Dixon is one of just three seniors on the team and carries a .257 batting average into the playoffs.

Wyatt Watson, Hardin-Simmons University

Wide receiver Wyatt Watson announced he will be continue his football career at Hardin-Simmons University, after back-to-back All-District seasons at Sulphur Springs. Watson had a breakout junior season with the Wildcats in 2023 and played a huge role in each of the last two trips to the postseason, racking up 968 yards and 8 touchdowns on 68 catches in his career.

Nathan Andrews, Hendrix College

Defensive End Nathan Andrews will be taking his talents to Conway Arkansas, where he will be joining the Hendrix Warriors football program. Andrews first debuted on varsity as a Sophomore for the Wildcats back in 2022 and over the next three seasons would see his role within the defense and locker room increase each year.

Over the course of his three-year career Andrews was a two-time All-District player and racked up 108 career tackles, along with seven tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks.
