Obituary for Randy Davis

Obituary for Randy Davis
  • PublishedApril 2, 2025

Randy Davis passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at UT Health Tyler. He was born on September 3, 1956, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to Clifford and Lila Ruth Davis.

On June 2, 1973, Randy married Marlene Gilbreath in Yantis, Texas. They were married for 51 years, but their love story began long before that—they had been inseparable since grade school. Randy spent his entire life in Yantis, where he was a dairy farmer for most of his years. He was a member of Amazing Grace Fellowship Church in Alba, Texas.

Randy’s passion for the Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers was only matched by his love for family and travel. Whether it was exploring the scenic mountains of Colorado or relaxing on the beaches of South Padre Island or Galveston, Randy cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. At home, his two beloved dogs, Baby and Daisy, were a constant source of joy and companionship, adding warmth to his everyday life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Lila Ruth Davis, and his grandson, Cameron Davis.

Randy is survived by his loving wife, Marlene Davis; his two sons, Wade Davis and wife Katrina, and Lance Davis and partner Sherri Foster, all of Yantis. He also leaves behind three grandchildren: Katlin Cutbirth and husband Travis of Dallas, Emily Reeves and husband Chase of Point, and Brady Davis of Yantis. His legacy continues through his great-granddaughter, Annie Cutbirth of Dallas, and his soon-to-arrive great-grandson, Colter Reeves of Point. He is also survived by his two sisters, Charlotte Allison of Tyler and Kim Miller and husband Trent of Royse City, along with numerous other family members and dear friends.

A graveside service will be held at Yantis Cemetery in Yantis, Texas, at 2:30 PM on Saturday, April 5, 2025, with Randy’s cousin, Bro. Byron George, officiating. He will be joined by Randy’s grandson-in-law, Travis Cutbirth.

The family wishes to keep the service casual. As red was Randy’s favorite color, they ask that attendees wear red in his honor. Jeans are welcome.

Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home. www.westoaksfuneralhome.com
