New to HCHC Foundation’s Mingo? Here is How It Works
  • PublishedApril 2, 2025

Sulphur Springs, TX – If you are new to the Hopkins County Health Care Foundation’s Man Bingo, Mingo, then you may want to know what to expect at the event on Thursday, April 10. Doors open at 5 pm so that players can arrive early to find their table, get their sandwich and drink, and enter the door prize drawing. If a player wants to participate in the two bonus rounds or up their odds for a win, extra cards, packets, and bonus cards will be available for purchase starting at 5 pm.

Play starts at 6 pm and includes 10 rounds of regular bingo. Each regular round features two or three prize options. The first winner for the round gets to select their winnings from those two or three items. The second winner then takes the last prize or, if the round had three prizes, which of the two they want. If there are three prizes, then the third winner gets what remains.

Those who have marked a bingo need to quickly and loudly shout “bingo” so that the callers are aware that someone may have won. The person or persons who have bingo-ed need to take their card to the callers at the front for verification.

If there is a tie, the bingo callers will review the cards for verification and then conduct a playoff. Random balls will be called until one player matches the ball called on the face that the player originally bingo-ed on.

Some rounds have a required pattern, such as a kite, postage stamp, or blackout. This information is noted in the program and from the podium. Any balls that have been drawn and any pattern for the round are shown on video screens around the room.

Door prizes are given away throughout the night as one more way of walking out with a prize. There will be a break or two during the evening to socialize or get another drink.

The Hopkins County Health Care Foundation is an IRS 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization founded in 1997. It raises funds for free clinics and the purchase of medical equipment and facilities for use by the Hopkins County Hospital District/EMS and CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital –

Sulphur Springs. Proceeds of Mingo 2025 will fund free heart calcium scans for Hopkins County men, with details to follow.
