Have you ever played in the largest game of musical chairs in Hopkins County? If you have not, you should. Join the Sulphur Springs Middle School PACE group at their annual Ham Scramble, Sunday, April 13 at 3 p. m. Be sure to bring your lawn chair to downtown Sulphur Springs Celebration Plaza, to support a great organization, win some prizes and most importantly have some fun.Tickets are only $5 a person and can be purchased on the day of the event or from any student in the GT program at the MiddleSchool.
PACE, which stands for Partners of Academically Challenging Experiences, helps to support students at the Sulphur Springs Middle School within the Gifted and Talented program as well as those students participating in Destination Imagination. Both programs allow the students to explore their creativity as a group and challenge them to push their limits and discover new ways of learning in today’s school environment.
This year’s Ham Scramble is looking to help the Destination Imagination (DI)teams attend Globals in Kansas City in May. After this weekend the DI teams will know who is attending Globals based on how they did at the State competition, which is set to be completed Saturday, March 29 in Arlington at the University of Texas at Arlington. Four of the three teams from the Middle School will be attending State and looking to advance. These students have worked hard over the past six months to develop their skit and “answer”the problem presented. Countless hours and work go into preparing for these competitions and the students learn so many amazing skills while working towards the goal of advancing.
While those students are working hard this weekend, the parents are gearing up for the Ham Scramble. The great thing about the Ham Scramble is that everyone is a winner. No matter if you lose in the first round or the last, everyone goes home with a prize. If you or someone you know would like to donate a prize please give PACE President, Emily Glass a call, 903-243-6222 to donate or to purchase your ticket to this great event. DJ Calvin will be the Master of Ceremonies and will keep the music going, until it’s time to sit. There will be concession stands for the event, if you get hungry or thirsty PACE has you covered.Join the fun on Sunday, April 13 at 3 p. m. and go home a winner.
