Memorial service for Russell Scott McDaniel, age 61, of Longview, Texas will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Trinity Assembly of God Church in Kilgore, Texas with Bro. Roger Hoffpowier officiating.  Honorary pallbearers will include Seth McDaniel, Allen Dannhaeuser,  Josh Yarbrough, Phil Sampson, Mike McDaniel, and Rick Manes. Mr. McDaniel passed away at Christus Good Shepard Medical Center in Longview, Texas on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

Russell Scott McDaniel was born on March 11, 1963 in Lone Star, Texas to Joe and Melba (Sampson) McDaniel. He married Stephanie Beard in Longview, Texas on November 26, 1997.  Russell loved to play golf, was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and a Crimson Tide Fan (Roll Tide!).  He was a member of the Men’s Golf Association of Alpine.

Russell is survived by his wife, Stephanie McDaniel of Longview, Texas; sons, Seth McDaniel (Mazie) of Sulphur Springs and Allen Dannhaeuser (Erin Risinger) of Kilgore, Texas; daughter, Carleigh McDaniel (Josh Yarbrough) of Kilgore, Texas; grandchildren, Emery, Maelyn, Easton, Rawley, and Avery “Punky”; mother, Melba Baxter of Longview, Texas; brother, Mike McDaniel of Longview, Texas; sisters, Michelle Moore of Haughton, Louisiana and Kathy Strand of Athens, Texas, and mother-in-law, Rhonda Brown (Don Trujillo).

He was preceded in death by his father, Joe McDaniel; grandmother, Hester Tidwell; and grandfather, Leo Sampson.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider planting or sending a fruit tree to recognize Russell’s love of fruit trees or participating in the upcoming Russell McDaniel Memorial Golf Tournament benefitting local cancer patients of Texas Oncology. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
