Visitation for Murry Smith, age 75, of Brashear, Texas will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, Texas.  Mr. Smith passed away at his home on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

Murry Dale Smith was born on July 2, 1949 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Ruby Earl and Edna Gertrude (Moss) Smith.  He married Mary Diana Bailey in Birthright, Texas on August 18, 1984. Murry served in the U.S. Army and later was a U.S. postal carrier, and then worked in the Emergency Department at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.  Murry loved to golf, fish, and travel.

Murry is survived by his three sons, Jeff Harrington of Brashear, Kevin Harrington and wife Kay of Dike, Texas and Roger James Jr. and wife Michele of Austin, Nevada; nephews, Jimmy Joslin and wife Robin, and Lee Joslin; grandchildren, Josh Harrington and wife Stacie, Kali Harrington, Michael James and wife Julie, Amanda James, Amanda Ellis and husband Tom, Vivian Beasley and husband Garrett; and great-grandchildren, Bailey, Mack, Brody, Nicholas, Melina, Jacob, Harper, and Madison.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Earl and Gertrude Smith; wife, Diana Smith; son, David James; sisters, Edna and Bettie Lou; and grandson, Robert Castleberry.

The family would like to give a Special Thanks to Texas Oncology and their staff, VA Homecare, and Choice Hospice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
