Funeral service for Frances Skelton, age 79, of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs with Bro. Garry Jordan officiating. Interment will follow at Martin Springs Cemetery with Wayne Gooding, Gerald Gooding, Davin Gooding, Tony Tanton, Anthony Tanton, and Butch Adams serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mrs. Skelton passed away at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

 

Frances Skelton was born on February 12, 1946 in Mt. Vernon, Texas to Pete and Annie (Gaines) Jones. She married Jimmy Ray Skelton in Sulphur Springs on August 24, 1966. Frances worked for 23 years at the Sulphur Springs ISD where she started as a cook and eventually became a teacher’s aide. Frances was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed caring for her grandkids and sightseeing as much as she could.

 

Frances is survived by her husband, Jimmy Ray Skelton; children, Pamela Ann Mannis (Jeff) and Michael Skelton both of Sulphur Springs; five grandchildren, Jake Mannis (Cassidy), Kara Mannis, Jessica Hofstetter (Randy), Cody Skelton (Chandice), and Allie Skelton; and eight great-grandchildren, Hayden, Saydee, Uriah, Adilyn, Carter, Wesson, Emery, and Greyson.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Annie Jones; brother, Junior Jones; sister, Ruby Hathcoat, and great-grandchild, Owen Newman.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
