Funeral service for Juanita Mae Attaway, age 94, of Yantis, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Yantis, Texas with Gale Kimbrough and Jonathan Attaway officiating. Interment will follow at Yantis Cemetery with Michael Lynn Attaway, Wesley Zane Attaway, Jonathan Michael Attaway, Jon Reel, Chad Swatsell, and David Sweat serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Yantis. Mrs. Attaway passed away at Whispering Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation in Winnsboro, Texas on Sunday, January 26, 2025.

 

Juanita Mae Attaway was born on October 19, 1930 in Sweetwater, Texas to Henry Albert and Emma May (Davis) Swatsell. She was married to Warren H. Attaway for 76 years until his passing in 2016. Once all three children were in school, Juanita worked at H. D. Lee as a seamstress then an inspector, Piggly Wiggly as a checker then office secretary, and financial secretary at Swatsell Oil until retiring at age 65. Juanita enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Yantis.

 

Juanita is survived by her daughter, Beverly Page (Robert) of Tyler, Texas; son, Wesley Attaway (Christi) of Miller Grove, Texas; daughter-in-law, Pegi Attaway of Winnsboro, Texas; grandchildren, Karla Kay, Michael Lynn, Autumn Ann, Brandy Alisha, April Elaine, Ashley Nicole, Wesley Zane, Jennifer Grace, Ben Zachary, and Jonathan Michael; seventeen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Albert and Emma May Swatsell; husband, Warren Attaway; son, Michael Warren Attaway; and four brothers, Marvin Swatsell, Nolen Swatsell, Wayne Swatsell, and William Clyde Swatsell.

 

The family would like to give a special Thank You to Whispering Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation for four years of wonderful care, as well as to thank the doctors and

nurses with Chambers Hospice for the compassion, love, and respect honoring her journey.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the Yantis Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 344, Yantis, TX 75497.
