Funeral service for Teresa “Lea” Pompa, age 95, of Commerce, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, Texas with Carey Kinnard officiating. Interment will follow at Sherley Cemetery with Jacob Petty, Joshua Petty, Ralph Martinez, Trenton Ty Rhoads, Johnny Martinez, Jr., and John Bowen serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Ms. Pompa passed away at Country Home Estates Assisted Living Center in Commerce, Texas on Monday, January 27, 2025.

 

Teresa Leatrice Pompa was born on February 17, 1929 in Yantis, Texas to N.B. and Bessie (Barlow) Pickett. She was married to Jesse Pompa until his passing. Lea worked as an administrative assistant at Manatee Homes, East Texas State University, and the Cumby ISD for many years and met and became friends with many over the years.

 

Lea is survived by her son, Danny Pompa (Cheryl); daughters, Leah Kanaman (Collin), Lynn Petty (David), and Julia Burkett (Ron); grandchildren, Amber Pompa, Zach Tucker, Natajia Tucker, Ashley Kanaman, Hannah Rhoads, Joshua Petty, Taylor Petty and Jacob Petty; great-grandchildren, Kael Tucker, Cassandra Tucker, Alessandra Tucker, Wyatt Tucker, Blake Tucker, Jesse Petty, Jentrie Petty, Jaesten Petty, Bryleigh Fawcett, Brailynn Fawcett, and Dawson Rhoads.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, N.B. and Bessie Pickett; three sisters and one brother.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
