Obituary for Wanda Skaggs

Funeral service for Wanda (Loyd) Skaggs, age 86 of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Ray Glenn Jordan officiating. Interment will follow at South Liberty Cemetery with Brandon Price, Hunter Powell, Josh Chamness, Trayton Powell, Chase Skaggs, and Lance Reppond serving as pallbearers. Don Smith, Danny Coke, Chris Penson, William Penson, Dubby Henton, Ben Hatcher, Pacen Price, and Porder Price will be honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Skaggs passed away on December 16, 2024 at Carriage House Manor.

 

Wanda was born on January 19, 1938 in Hopkins County, Texas to William Loyd and Jeraldine (Freeman) Skaggs. She married W.L. “Bill” Skaggs on October 23, 1954 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Wanda started as a homemaker raising her family. She worked as an office manager at Howards, Gibsons, and Beall’s. Wanda was a member of Davis Street Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by her daughters, Paula Garrett and husband, Wayne, and Cindy Dodd and husband, Darrell; son, Chuck Skaggs; grandchildren, Shannon Dodd, Bridget Clower, Brandon Price, Erika Garrett, Amber Weaver, Jessica McInnis, Ashely Reppond, Dusty Dodd, Lindsay Chamness and Chase Skaggs; twenty-one great-grandchildren and her sister, Margie Gordillo.

 

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, husband and great-grandson, Sawyer Chamness.
