We like to celebrate the great things about Hopkins County, and the best time to do it is at the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Banquet and Community Awards.

Nominations are being accepted for Citizen of the Year, Woman of the Year, Small and Large Businesses of the Year and other superlative recognitions. The awards will be announced at the Chamber’s membership banquet on Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Hopkins County Civic Center.

When nominating a person or business, please write in the nomination letter the reasons you are presenting them for the award. Nominations can be sent to Butch@HopkinsChamber.org or mailed to the following addresses:

Businesses of the Year nominations should be for those businesses which exhibit outstanding community involvement—civic, church, educational, benevolent, humanitarian or other.

Ornaments and Stew Merch


Our 2024 Christmas Ornaments, featuring the Total Solar Eclipse, are on sale at the Chamber office. They are $40 each.

The Chamber also has a limited supply of 2024 stew merchandise still available and on sale at great prices. For instance, vintage stew T-shirts are $5 each, vintage hoodies are $15, and there are other savings as well. We are located at 110 Main St.

Christmas Events

· Deep Routes Coffee welcomes you to their Christmas Market this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 215 Shannon Road East. Enjoy music, crafts, gingerbread cookie decorating, and of course, shopping! Deep Routes is wonderful at supporting local vendors and giving them a stage for their goods. Show up and shop!

· Santa will be at City National Bank on Thursday, and he is ready to see you! Please consider bringing him a canned food item so that he can deliver food to those in need this year, not just presents. He will be at the CNB downtown location from 4-6 p.m. tonight.

· Head on over to Pacific Park this Saturday, beginning at 5 p.m., as there are all sorts of fun planned for Christmas, including caroling hayride, bicycle raffle, snacks, and a parade. Bring a lawn chair and join in the fun. Children must be present to win the bicycle raffle. For more information, call Johnny or Christy Wright at 903-335-6646.

· Warm up your holidays with Alliance Bank. On Friday, Dec. 13. Join Alliance Bank for toasty Christmas fun inside their main location downtown. They will have refreshments and hot cocoa flowing all day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with Santa making a guest appearance at 1 p.m. for pictures!

· The Oaks Bed and Breakfast has planned the most wonderful afternoon with Santa this Sunday, Dec. 15. Join Santa at the beautiful bed and breakfast for pictures, arts and crafts, cookie decorating, and snacks and drinks, from 1-4 p.m. at 516 Oak Avenue.

· The Best Christmas Pageant EVER will be playing at Main Street Theatre at 7 p.m. on Dec. 12, and 2 p.m. on Dec. 14 and 15. Tickets are $15. Visit communityplayersinc.com for more information.

Ribbon Cuttings

Frosty’s Holiday Magic will have a ribbon cutting at their location, 7283 Interstate 30 East, at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 13. We hope you can make it.

Apex Supply Co. on Houston Street will have a ribbon cutting and refreshments for the opening of their new addition. The ribbon cutting will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 13. Join us for this event.
