Sulphur Springs Seniors Honored On National Signing Day
  • PublishedDecember 4, 2024

Celebrating National Signing Day has become tradition at Sulphur Springs High School, as their athletic department continues to churn out more and more college athletes. This year, National Signing Day saw one Wildcat and three Lady Cats celebrated, as they announced where they will be taking their talents at the next level.

Skylar Lewis, Texas State

Wildcats wide receiver Skylar Lewis signed his letter of intent to play college football at Texas State, after a record-setting career for the Wildcats football team. Lewis a huge part of turning the program around, helping lead them to the playoffs three seasons in a row, after a three-year playoff drought. Lewis also helped the Wildcats make it all the way to the Regional Semifinal, a mark the team hadn’t met since 2009.

Over his three years on varsity, Lewis finished with 2,421 receiving yards and 30 receiving touchdowns, both of which are new school records. He also holds the record for most receiving yards in a single game, when he had 264 yards and a pair of touchdowns on just five catches, in a 35-20 win over Kaufman in the 2023 season.

Jaciee Jasmer, Louisville

State Champion pole vaulter Jaciee Jasmer signed her letter of intent to continue her career at the University of Louisville Wednesday. Jasmer is ready to take her talents to the ACC, after what’s already been a historic high school career.

Jasmer not only won the State Championship in pole vaulting last season, but is currently ranked fourth in the nation amongst all high school pole vaulters. While Jasmer excels in other events as well, pole vaulting is what she will focus on when she makes the move to Louisville, Kentucky.

Rowan Faircloth, University of North Texas

Faircloth was the third member of the Sulphur Springs athletic department to sign with a Division 1 university. With still her senior year with the Lady Cats up ahead, Faircloth has already had a historic career. Last season, while leading the Lady Cats all the way to the Regional Semifinals, Faircloth broke the school record for goals in a season with 45.

Now, with her letter of intent already signed and her decision on where to play at the next level behind her, Faircloth is ready to help lead the Lady Cats on another deep playoff run in the 2024-2025 season. With 65 goals already under her belt, she will have a chance to cross the 100-goal mark with another impressive season this winter.

Alyson Thomas, Harding University

Senior golfer Alyson Thomas helped make this such a prestigious signing class for Sulphur Springs, when she signed her letter of intent to play at Harding University. Thomas is a four-year starter for the Lady Cats golf team and has had a historic career of her own.

Thomas has been a captain for the team for the last two years, and even broke the school record for the lowest single tournament round at the home course, with a score of 70. Thomas is a two-time State Qualifer, as well as a two-time All-Region, on top of being a two-time District Individual Chanmpion and a two-time District Champion.

Thomas will look to further add to her accolades this spring, before taking her talents to Searcy, Arkansas as a member of the Harding University Lady Bisons Women’s Golf team.
