Obituary for Kathlyn Cannon
A Celebration of Kathlyn R. Cannon’s life will be held at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, Texas on December 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Mrs. Cannon passed away on November 6 at Wesley House Assisted Living Facility where she had resided for the past three years.
Kathlyn Cannon was born on October 30, 1926 in Pittsburgh, Texas to Elton C. Reaves and Juanita Hughes Reaves. She married W.A. (Dub) Cannon, Jr. on July 16, 1945 in Rockwall, Texas. Kathlyn and Dub met while attending East Texas State University where Kathlyn was studying Journalism on a scholarship and playing tenor saxophone and clarinet in the orchestra.
Kathlyn was a creative person and expressed her creativity at Sulphur Springs Floral Company, where she and Dub grew into a successful business of more than 35 years, working side by side. She was also a talented artist, poet and piano player.
Mrs. Cannon was a Lifetime Member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sulphur Springs, a Waverly Club member and a volunteer at the Sulphur Springs Senior Citizen Center cooking and delivering meals for many years.
Kathlyn Cannon is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Min (Steven) of Honolulu and a grandson, Alexander Cannon Min (Allison) of Honolulu.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. Cannon, Jr., and her son, W.A. Cannon, III.
Her family wishes to thank Kyra Manning and all the Staff at Wesley House who cared for Kathlyn with love and compassion. Also, thanks to her caregivers, Patricia Cooper, Keitha Manning, and Carla Nweke who helped her transition near the end of her life.
