Graveside service for James “Cherokee” Morgan, age 82, of Emory, Texas will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Eureka Cemetery in Hulbert, Oklahoma with Pat ”Red Fox” Morgan, Larry Wright, David Benaroch, Steve LaRoza, Ryan Hinch, and James Hinch serving as pallbearers. Mr. Morgan passed away peacefully at Emory Health and Rehab on Monday, October 28, 2024.

 

James Daul Morgan was born on August 1, 1942, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to James and Bessie Lee (Wright) Morgan. He married Margaret Ann Cole in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1968. James was a bookkeeper for LTV and worked in the reservations department at American Airlines. He was a member of the Cherokee Nation.

 

James is survived by his wife, Margaret “Margie” Ann Morgan of Emory; daughters, Jamie Morgan (David Benaroch) of Dallas, Texas; Debbie LaRoza (Steve) of Whitefield, New Hampshire, and Melissa Hinch (Ryan) of Emory, Texas; grandchildren, Stephanie LaRoza, Daniela Benaroch, James Hinch, John Hinch, Josh Hinch, and Jake Hinch; great-grandchildren, Preslie McClure and Noraa McClure; brother, Pat “Red Fox” Morgan, nephew Wesley Morgan.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bessie Morgan; and granddaughter, Alison LaRoza.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
