Obituary for Vela Pace
Graveside service for Vela Pace, age 90, of Dike, Texas will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Restlawn Memorial Park with Bro. Mark Garrett officiating. James Pace, Thomas Pace, John Pace, and Joel Pace will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Ms. Pace passed away at her home on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
Vela Mae Pace was born on November 10, 1933 in Camp County to Benford LeRoy and Elsie Mae (Gilbert) Pomeroy. She married Joseph Clifton Pace in Dallas, Texas in 1952. Vela worked for Bell Telephone, the Red Cross, North East Texas Opportunities (NETO) as well as a dairy farmer. She was a Dike 4-H Leader and an antique enthusiast.
Vela is survived by her brother, James Wade Pomeroy; sons, Thomas Pace (Mary), James Pace (Kimberly), John Pace (Amy) and Joel Pace (Melinda); ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and close friends, Althea Hartsfield and Mary Lee Pomeroy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benford LeRoy and Elsie Mae Pomeroy; sisters, Dorothy Fay, Martha Jo, and Bettie Sue; brothers, J.P. Voight and Benny Pomeroy; son, Daniel Pace; and husband, J.C. Pace.
