Wildcats Continue To Climb, Reaching Top 10 of DCTF Rankings

Another week of Texas High School Football is in the books, which means it’s time for another update to the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Rankings. Last week the Sulphur Springs Wildcats reached a new peak, climbing all the way to #13 in the state, and this week, they once again reach new heights.
This week, the Sulphur Springs Wildcats have reached a new milestone, cracking the Top 10 for the first time in the Coach Faircloth Era, coming in as the #10 team in 4A. With a perfect record of 5-0, including a road win against the then #13 ranked Aubrey Chaparrals’ in their district opener, the Wildcats have started to receive some much earned recognition.
Sulphur Springs will get to put their new ranking to the test this week, as they host #1 Celina Friday. Both teams are undefeated and both teams have dominated their opponents this season, with each of them winning all of their games by multiple scores.
For Celina, their closest game came back in the season opener, when they beat Bellville by a final score of 49-30. For the season Celina is averaging 47 points per game and allowing just 17 points per game.
Sulphur Springs is in a similar position, winning all of their games by multiple scores, with their closest being a 10-point road victory over Mt Pleasant. For the season as a whole, the Wildcats are averaging 38 points per game and only allowing 14 points per game.
Friday’s home match will begin at 7:30 p.m. as both Celina and Sulphur Springs look to remain undefeated in district play. For anybody who can’t make it in person, the game will be broadcast live on Chad’s Media and Front Porch News, with coverage beginning at 7 p.m.
