Funeral service for Scotty Sewell, age 62 of Como, Texas will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Judge Brad Cummings officiating. Interment will follow at Richland Cemetery with Justin Sewell, Chris Sewell, Brent Sewell, Roger Don Sewell, Hayden Sewell, Grayson Sewell, Ron Mayberry, and Antwone Young serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Winnsboro Police Department. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Sewell passed away on October 3, 2024 at Christus Mother Frances – Tyler.

 

Scotty was born on September 29, 1962 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to David Merrell and Dorothy Ann (Swindell) Sewell. Scotty graduated from the police academy in 1985 and served in law enforcement for over 38 years. Scotty started as a dispatcher for Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department. He was a K-9 officer and lieutenant at Sulphur Springs Police Department, Sergeant at Honey Grove Police Department, served as Chief at Cumby Police Department, and currently was serving as the Assistant Chief at Winnsboro Police Department.

 

He is survived by son, Justin Sewell and wife, Keyra; grandchildren, Nala Necole Sewell, Laurel Marie Sewell, Parker Dunham, Cylis Skinner, and Mattex Sewell; his girlfriend, Annise Joiner; brothers, Chris Sewell, Brent Sewell, and Roger Don Sewell; cousin, Lana York; nephews, Hayden Sewell and Grayson Sewell; and his beloved dog, Sissy.

 

Scotty was preceded in death by his father, David Sewell, Mother Dottie Sewell, and K-9 Leo.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
